Scope Creep is the one challenge project managers will face during a project. The debate continues whether scope creep is preventable or inevitable. Mr. Keeling will discuss how scope creep can occur during a project, how scope creep can undermine and impact a project, and how he managed scope creep as a project manager. The presentation aims to open new insight about how project managers perceive scope creep based on experiences through project management in practice. The title of the presentation is “Scope Creep Is Coming”.

Dwayne Keeling is an Information Technology professional and has over 20 years of experience in the information technology industry with extensive healthcare project portfolios. He began his career at Atrium as a Field Service Technician, IT Team Lead, and Clinical Software Specialist.  Mr. Keeling is responsible for providing the overall leadership and management of software upgrades and projects for the Levine Cancer Institute-Radiation Therapy and the North Carolina Poison Center. As a project manager, he is responsible for the total project management lifecycle which includes controlling budgets, contract negotiating, and providing day-to-day communication with vendors, and stakeholders.

Mr. Keeling’s academic background includes master’s degrees in health administration and Business Administration from Pfeiffer University, Bachler of Sciences degree in Marketing from South Carolina State University, and a degree in Computer Science from ECPI Computer of Technology.

Hope to see you at the meeting!

Chapter Meeting Presentations
As a means of helping chapter and local community members who are certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP®) satisfy the continuing education requirements for re-certification, PMI Metrolina Chapter arranges its monthly meeting schedule to allow a 1.5 hour PDU training session to be incorporated into its normal meeting.

Topics presented during these sessions are designed to not only satisfy the PDU requirement for re-certifying as a PMP, but to also provide wide appeal to people involved in project management regardless of whether or not they are certified PMPs. The 1.5-hour sessions meet the educational requirements to qualify for 1.5 PDU credits for maintaining PMP® certification or to meet the requirement for attending 35 hours of formal project management education prior to applying to sit for the PMP® exam.

The sessions are open to all.
