"Leveraging Stakeholder Engagement in Project Environments", Speaker: Rochelle Cook, PhD , Central (Mooresville & West Lake Norman) Virtual Meeting

Business Acumen

Topic:

Project managers (PMs) apply interpersonal and technical tools to influence outcomes. Similarly, internal stakeholders bring skills, thoughts, and ideas that shape project outcomes. Given the growing focus of delegating project managers to lead efforts that impact organizational goals as well as the shift to hybrid and remote work environments, there is a need to explore how to best leverage stakeholder engagement to promote effective project teams.

In this presentation, the speaker will apply elements of planning stakeholder engagement and constructs of complexity leadership theory to:
  • Describe how stakeholder engagement is framed in project environments
  • Identify interactive dynamics in project environment
    • In structured project settings
    • When unplanned events emerge
  • Recommend ways for PMs to initiate behaviors that influence engagement

Learning Objectives:
  • Understand the significance of engagement between the PM and team
  • Identify areas where stakeholder engagement can be enhanced or improved in their project role(s)
  • Apply stakeholder engagement behaviors to enhance team dynamics
