As a Career Strategist and former Talent Acquisition Manager, I have often been asked by candidates why were they not selected for an interview or why was their application declined. Often, I did not have the luxury to respond to every candidate due to my obligations.  However, I leveraged LinkedIn and speaking engagements to share the key things candidates overlook or are not aware of when they are pursuing a new role.  We will review what I share and address questions from the group in hopes of assisting attendees with improving their career development strategy.

Carlena “CJ” Jefferson-Sims is a Talent Acquisition Leader, Learning Facilitator, and Career Strategist that is passionate about creating a diverse learning culture to attract, develop, and retain talent. Carlena received a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems Technology from the University of Houston-University Park and a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership & Ethics from St. Edward's University.  Carlena has held various roles within the Technology industry, such as Software Development Manager, Technical Program Manager, Talent Acquisition Manager, Global Learning Development Manager. She is a result-oriented individual who finds pleasure in assisting individuals with getting their careers from here to there.
