Project and program governance is not a “check the box” exercise yet it is treated as that by many organizations. Many times, despite having this pseudo governance in place, projects still struggle.  Come and learn “What is Good Portfolio Governance”.

 

Objectives:

  • Understand the Strategy & Guiding Principles of Portfolio Governance Management
  • Explain the typical stage gate process and requirements.
  • Define and provide examples of “right sized” and methodology agnostic project governance

Speaker Bio:

Jennifer is an Associate Professor at the University of Southern California and the Faculty Council Chair of Bovard College. She has been managing projects, programs, portfolios and PMOs for 30 years for Fortune 500 companies including Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Duke Energy, Amtrak, TIAA and United Rentals. She now works as a management consultant for North Highland. As an educator, she has also taught and developed curriculum for Northeastern, Georgetown, and Wake Forest Universities. As well as authoring books and articles of her own, she was featured in İpek Sahra Özgüler’s book, “The Perspective of Women in Project Management” released earlier this year. She is the former Region Mentor for the Mid-Atlantic States (Region 5). In 2015, PMI Metrolina won Chapter of the Year during her tenure as President.  Jennifer was in the first Master of Science in Project Management Class at Northeastern University and holds PMP, PgMP, PfMP, ITIL, BRMP, SSMBB, CB-PMO and SAFe-SA certifications. She had the honor of graduating from the PMI Leadership Institute Master Class in 2015. She is also very actively involved in two other non-profit organizations. She lives in North Carolina with her husband Ken and two Yorkies (George Jr. and Frankie).
