PMI Carolina Study Group for the PMP Exam (Seventh Edition)
Description
Preparing for the PMP exam can feel overwhelming—but it doesn’t have to be a solo journey. This five-week virtual study group brings together aspiring and current project management professionals for a structured, engaging, and community-driven approach to PMP exam preparation. Guided by members of the PMI Carolina Professional Development and Training Committee, each 1.5-hour session walks you through the core frameworks, domains, and knowledge areas tested on the PMP exam using the PMBOK® Guide Seventh Edition and the PMI® Examination Content Outline (ECO) as your roadmap.
Sessions cover the three ECO domains—People (42%), Process (50%), and Business Environment (8%)—alongside the 10 Knowledge Areas, 5 Process Groups, and 12 Project Management Principles introduced in the Seventh Edition. Every session balances instruction with interaction: real-world scenarios ground each concept in practical application, group discussions connect the material to your own experience, and knowledge checks after each segment test your understanding in real time. You’ll learn how to apply predictive, agile, and hybrid approaches the way the exam expects, with proven test-taking strategies woven throughout.
Each week includes an at-home study guide, a vocabulary list, and curated resources to help you reinforce what you’ve learned between sessions. This isn’t a lecture you sit through—you’ll participate, think critically, and engage with the material the way the exam expects you to. Whether you’re just starting your PMP journey or looking for a structured review before test day, this study group gives you the content, community, and confidence to walk into that exam ready. After the initial five-week cohort, all session recordings will be available on YouTube for self-paced, on-demand review.
