Cabarrus County January Community Meeting

Speaker:   Jon Quigley

Title:  Ishikawa diagram Walkthrough

DescriptionProject management consists of a set of knowledge management areas as defined by PMI.  These management areas, for example Scope Management, are listed as discrete areas of knowledge, however, these knowledge areas are really a collection of systems. Systems that interact and, when done suboptimal, will impact adjacent or other systems, to be specific, cause a failure in another system.

During this interactive event, we are going to do a series of mental exercises using the Ishikawa (fishbone) diagram to imagine project failures, and work through the possible scenarios for that project failure, based on these knowledge management areas.  This will demonstrate the interactions of these knowledge management systems and subsequent imagined project failures, and how a failure symptom may not trace back to the knowledge management area we may think it should.
