PMI Carolina Virtual Meeting - Building Responsible & Compliant AI into Projects

Ways of Working

Topic Description:

Responsible and compliant AI is no longer optional—it’s a core expectation for modern project delivery. This session equips project managers with the knowledge to integrate ethical standards, regulatory controls, and governance practices into AI-driven initiatives from day one. Participants will explore how to identify risks such as bias, privacy violations, and model drift, while aligning with frameworks like NIST AI RMF, ISO 42001, and data-protection mandates. Practical guidance will show how to build oversight checkpoints, collaborate with security/legal teams, and ensure every AI feature or workflow meets organizational, regulatory, and ethical obligations.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand how to embed responsible AI principles—fairness, transparency, and accountability—into project planning and execution.
  • Identify key compliance, privacy, and security requirements (NIST, ISO, SOC2, HITRUST, GDPR) when managing AI-enabled initiatives.
  • Learn how to design governance workflows that ensure ethical decision-making, model monitoring, and risk mitigation across the AI project life cycle.
