Presenter Bio:  David Laws directs Service to the Armed Forces for the American Red Cross. He is responsible for several Red Cross programs that provide support and assistance to military members, veterans and their families throughout 51 counties in North and South Carolina. In times of disaster, David has deployed in management positions to assist families affected by the disaster. David Laws graduated from the United States Naval Academy. He entered the submarine service, qualifying as a nuclear submarine officer, and served for 11 years. After leaving the Navy, David provided services to the Department of Defense as a Director for a professional services firm in the Washington DC area. In 1988, David began a second career working in the field of program management for Fortune 500 companies. From then until 2016, he founded two companies and provided direction to organizations in two other companies. David has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the United States Naval Academy and a Master of Mechanical Engineering degree from The Catholic University of America. He and his wife, Joyce, have been married since 1972 and reside in Charlotte, North Carolina. They have three grown and married children and 9 grandchildren.
